In Route Day One

"All Aboard!" Sorry that was lame but I couldn't resist. We boarded the train this evening at a little before five. We quickly discovered that some of the biggest "necessities we lugged on board with us really weren't necissary at all. Namely the boys car seats. I assumed the train seats like plane seats would have seat belts, and it might be good to bring the carseats in order to keep the kids in place when necissary...Not the case...Little know fact (at least to me): Trains do not have seatbelts. On a tangent that seems a little weird because it seems the train is constantly bobby and rocking and there were times I would have liked a seat belt. And also It seems like a seatbelt might be more effect in saving ones life in a train accident of derailment than a plane crash from 33,000 feet. Call me crazy.

We left Union station and headed over the bridges in Portland, accross the Colombia River and up the Gorge. Linus was pretty amazed!

We saw another train across the river...
pretty darn exciting!
